Some thoughts on We the Media: Chapters 1-3
In his book, Dan Gillmor tells a story. I get a visual sometimes of this dear old grandpa telling us Silicon Valley newbies how online news spreading has evolved. The birth of blogging had its beginnings with people, not major media companies. It redefined the term grassroots media. It gave a voice to anyone with an internet connection at a time when news spreading belonged to corporations. It’s kind of a god sent. In some ways though, this new variety of information can be overwhelming. Now, who exactly should we trust? Who exactly is credible? And how much information is too much information?
